SHIP FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM TORNADO ®
(Aerosol Volumetric Quenching)
In accordance with the Rules of Classification and Construction of Ships of the Russian River Register, the AOT system is used as a fire fighting system on ships to protect the following premises:
- Machine rooms for main, auxiliary engines and emergency diesel generators and boilers operating on liquid fuel, fire pumps;
- Machine rooms for generators and emergency power sources, main and emergency switchboards, electric motors (including rowing machines) and ventilation systems for this equipment;
- Premises in which fuel and oil tanks are located (main stock, expendable, waste, settling), collection of subglacial waters; cofferdams;
- Storages for storage of compressed and liquefied gases, flammable liquids, materials and substances;
- Cargo pump rooms of bulk vessels.
The equipment of the AOT “TORNADO” system is completed on the basis of an individual project of a ship fire extinguishing system for a specific facility approved by the Russian River Register
Composition of the ship fire extinguishing system “TORNADO”
The structure of the stationary fire-fighting system on ships (AOT) includes:
- Generators of fire extinguishing aerosol (GOA)
- The control and alarm system of the aerosol fire extinguishing system (BUS AOT 1, BUS AOT 2)
- Block of intermediate relays (BPR)
- Connecting box (CJ)
- Light and sound siren
Generators of fire extinguishing aerosol (GOA) the number of which is determined by calculation, depending on the volume and characteristics of the protected premises. Generators are installed directly in the protected premises and provide an aerosol supply.
In the AOT system, generators of fire extinguishing aerosol ТОР-1500 , ТОР-3000 (river execution) are used.
The generators are started by supplying an electric pulse from the control and signaling unit of the aerosol fire-fighting system BUS AOT to the GOA launch node.
The control and signaling unit (WCD) intended for remote start of the fire extinguishing aerosol generators, the signal for switching off the ventilation and the activation of the warning about the upcoming launch of the AOT system;
Block of intermediate relays (BPR) , designed to control ventilation and alarm signaling in the protected area by commands from the BUS;
Light and sound annunciators intended for the supply of sound and light signal “AEROSOL, GO!”. The siren starts to work simultaneously with the power supply and switches off after the programmed operating time;
Connecting boxes (SL) , designed for routing the cable routes of the generator starting circuits to the protected premises.
Block of intermediate relays (BPR), designed to control ventilation and alarm signaling in the protected area by commands from the BUS;
Light and sound annunciators are used in the process of fire extinguishing on ships to provide the sound and light signal “AEROSOL, GO!”.
The siren starts to work simultaneously with the power supply and switches off after the programmed operating time;
Connecting boxes (SL), designed for routing the cable routes of the generator starting circuits to the protected premises.
Designing and production of ship fire extinguishing systems (AOT systems), their installation and maintenance is handled by the enterprise that is part of the EPOTOS Association – Fire Extinguishing Systems LLC (St. Petersburg).
